XHPVE-4 Puerto Vallarta
The information below is from the late 1990s, so the situation at XHPVE-4 may have changed since then.
XHPVE-4 from Puerto Vallarta is an XHGC-5 relayer
that runs off-network soap operas and a local newscast during the early afternoon hours on
weekdays.
During the local programming, the station uses "4 Vallarta" IDs.
Supered calls are also used throughout the day. This 1996 photograph is from the end of a long ID which
features both live action (beach scenes) and colorful animation.
XEDK-5 Guadalajara Televisa Guadalajara The city of Guadalajara is Mexico's second largest. Guadalajara is about 1,000 miles from our location, which is almost perfect E-skip range. Much has changed with the Televisa stations in recent years. XEDK Guadalajara is not received here as often as other Televisa Guadalajara stations XEWO-2 and XHG-4. This station operated on channel 6 until 1997. Jeff Kruszka and I first saw XEDK operating on channel 5 in December 1997. According to Fernando Garcia, XEDK moved from channel 6 due to interference from high-powered FM transmitters. The ID above was taped on July 4, 1999. XEDK-5 was independent on channel 6 and remained independent on channel 5 for a short time. Then the station relayed XHTV-4 for a short time. The station has been a Galavison/XEQ-9 relayer since 2001. newscaster is from December 1997. relaying XEQ-9/Galavision "XEDK C5 guad jal" relaying XEQ-9/Galavision Text ID upper left |
Yes, this station's transmitter is located in Jalisco Although XHCOL-3 serves the city of Colima, Colima, this transmitter is located west-southwest of Tuxpan, Jalisco, in Atenquique. I am not sure if this is a secondary transmitter that actually serves the Tuxpan area while another transmitter on the same channel aims its signal toward Colima. It is common for Televisa and Azteca to place transmitters on opposite sides of mountains on the same channel in order to serve two different TV markets. 1097 miles via Es 1097 miles via Es ID upper right reads: XHCOL-TV CANAL 3 ATENQUIQUE JAL |
