APPRECIATION:
Much appreciation to Raymie Humbert for helping me (and other DXers, as well) by providing a large amount of highly useful information about Mexico TV. That information was unknown to DXers in the U.S. until Raymie did the research and reported his findings on WTFDA Forums. Read "Raymie's Mexico Beat" blog here.

One of My All-Time Best TV Logs!

XHAO-4 Shadow Station in Tuxtla Gutierrez

Distance from San Cristobal transmitter: About thirty (30) miles
Power of Tuxtla Transmitter: 2 kW
Power of San Cristobal Transmitter: 99.16 kW

The Tuxtla Gutierrez Shadow transmitter of XHCSA-2 San Cristobal was received in October of 2003. It was mixed with the San Cristobal signal. The Tuxtla XHCSA put up a text ID a few minutes prior to the San Cristobal station. I was shocked to receive a station that is so close to another station on the same channel. The reception, with the IDs, is recorded on video tape; but the signal is too unstable to photograph. It probably would not look good on YouTube, either.

As usual with these Shadow stations, no DXer could find any information that indicated my log even existed. Therefore, I looked like a liar or a fool, once again. Raymie Humbert confirmed in 2014 (through exhaustive research of Mexico government documents written in Spanish) that the Shadow stations in Chiapas and other locations in Mexico do exist.

The Tuxtla XHAO-4 text ID was floating on the San Cristobal XHAO at about 1540 CT. An hour later, the Tuxtla XHAO was covering the San Cristobal XHAO at times, and that gave me the opportunity to make a readable photograph. Thank God!
